On Friday, July 10th and Saturday, July 11th Colorado Burlesque Festival's amazing headliners, along with Denver's best, will be teaching everything you need to know to advance your performance skills! Whether you are just starting out or are a veteran performer, these workshops will help improve your stage skills, burlesque etiquette, dance, costume and general well being!
All classes will be held in the Kick the Can room on the 2nd floor at the Curtis Hotel (1405 Curtis Street, Denver, CO 80202). Here are important things to know:
- All classes are just $20 per person, per class except the yoga class, Friday morning which is FREE, and Kitten N’ Lou’s CAMP Camp, Saturday afternoon, which is $25
- All workshops are open to the public.

Outlaw Yoga with Honey Touche

Physically challenging and technically simple, Outlaw Yoga challenges you to make more than a habit of life, to connect to self and to purpose through intense physicality, to explore the power of presence in a contemporary, community setting – connecting to self, to others, and to your inner sense of service. Grace is gratitude personified, it is a choice and a discipline. Join me for a high powered vinyasa flow, with some burlesque shimmies, bumps and grinds in between downward dogs. “Beyond Pretty”: Drag Makeup for Burly Gals with Kitten LaRue

You’ve been practicing your faces in the mirror, and they look great – now how to make sure that every wink, smile, snarl, and pout can be seen by your audience? Makeup! Kitten LaRue digs deep into her bag of drag tricks to share the basics of creating drama with contour, highlight, eyebrow sculpting, and beating that face for the gods! Learn techniques to heighten and exaggerate both the feminine and the expressive qualities of your face to magnify every bat of an eyelash to the back of the house. All gender presentations welcome!
Embodied Movement with Lou Henry Hoover
1:30 pm - 2:45 pm, Friday, July 10
The focus of this improvisation-based class is being present in your body. We will use a variety of games, exercises, and scores to develop full-bodied awareness and the ability to both experience and transmit emotional states through movement. Movers of all experience levels are welcome. The tools we are working with in this class are beneficial for getting the most out of your experience as a human with a body, whether you take that body onstage or not. For performers, these tools can be applied at any stage of the artistic process, from the studio to the spotlight, and will maximize your potential to express the comedic, the tragic, and the sexy with a range from million-watt-amphitheater to I’m-ready-for-my-close-up-Mr-DeMille.

Booty-lesque Dance class with Midnite Martini
11 am - 12:30 pm, Saturday, July 11
Get up, move, and channel your inner cabaret/music video dancer! Great for all levels, Reigning Queen of Burlesque Midnite Martini will take you through a basic dance warm up and stretch, technique and some fun across the floor, and then we will werk!
Midnite will teach you her choreographed dance routine step-by-step. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or newbie with two left feet, learning new choreography is a great skill to refine and practice. Plus any excuse to shake that booty among friends is something you should never pass up! You'll feel so sassy and fun doing it you’ll forget how much you’re working!
**Note, this class requires a minimum of 8 participants or else it will be cancelled. If you pre-pay, and the class is cancelled, you will be refunded via PayPal!
Kitten N’ Lou’s CAMP Camp, with Kitten LaRue and Lou Henry Hoover

Embrace your inner camp queen or king as Kitten & Lou guide you through various tricks and tools to infuse your burlesque with a shot of hilarity! Beginning with a dance based warm up for your body and brain, we will integrate Kitten N’ Lou’s choreographic stylings with structured theatrical exercises to develop skills that command an audience’s attention and take them on a ride. Play with ideas of slapstick, facial exaggeration, and comedic timing, as you learn to toe the line of sex and comedy. Funny is sexy!
Classic Jazz Dance with Russell Bruner
2:15 pm - 3:30 pm, Saturday, July 11
This class will focus on dance movement that goes with Rag, Jazz and Swing Music. This will be fun for anyone interested in dance styles like Charleston, Black Bottom, Legomania, Cake Walk and Eccentric Dance. We will explore the dancing from it's origin and look at ways to personalize and improvise with the style today. No experience required. All levels are welcome to attend. It is recommended that you wear comfy dance shoes with suede or leather soles during the class.
Panels and Negligee with Tiffany Carter
3:45 pm - 5:15 pm, Saturday, July 11
Come learn from a Legend, Tiffany Carter, she'll have you twirling and walking the stage with ease and the grace of a butterfly. She will show you new steps in using panels & negligees and how to get them moving with most effect. She has taught this class at the Burlesque Hall of Fame and many other festivals with great results. Bring any panels, negligees, scarfs, shells, or anything to work with. And a great attitude and smile too.
